Rain, Rain Go Away

It's raining again and rain remains in the forecast for the next several days. Enough already!

Kellie took Pogo to the vet the other day to try to figure out his IBS. The vet suggested they change his dog food. He came to visit yesterday. Here's a little video of crazy Pogo:

That dog is so funny. He keeps us all entertained.

Katie has been getting involved in lots of things at college, including the ballroom dance club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). She loves her soccer girls.

This afternoon Dave & I are heading to Branson. He has sales meetings there and the spouses are invited to come along. We'll be back Sunday.

Have a nice weekend!

My Weekend

Saturday afternoon/evening Kellie & Chris had a great time at the OSU football game. They spent the game in the club area of the newly renovated stadium which they said was great. One text I got from Kellie during the game said: "Between us Chris and I have had 6 sodas, 2 ice cream treats, a snickers, a twix, popcorn and chips." All that was after dinner which was provided in the club!
Sunday we were back at the beautiful TU soccer field cheering on the team. They beat Jackson State 10-0. Personally I prefer more of a challenging game. Jackson State had girls on their team from Jamaica, Barbados and Nigeria. TU started a new tradition this year. After each home goal the player who scored throws a small soccer ball into the crowd. I lucked into one of the 10. I wasn't even paying attention and it bounced right at my feet. Yay!
After each win the girls run to the fan side of the field and wave to the crowd. That's Katie to the left in black. The coach also talks to the crowd after each home game. Sunday Katie was his main topic of discussion. He talked about how great she is doing and how they feel she is their "future" and they are hoping to not have to use her at all this year so they can have her for the next four years. He said lots of really nice things about her. I know a lot of people have been wondering why she hasn't been playing. It's tough on her not to be in the games, but she's getting a lot of great training and experience and will be even better next year.

The team is trying to raise funds to go to Spain over spring break to play in a tournament there. The spring season doesn't count towards NCAA eligibility, so Katie should be able to start playing then. Each girl has been asked to provide the addresses of 9 family/friends who they think might be willing to make a donation to their Spain fund. This is a heads up to anyone reading this -- you may be on the list!
Drew and Zac joined me in the stands to cheer on the girls. Here they are with our favorite soccer girls, Katie and her roomie Maddie. That's the little soccer ball in Drew's hand. After the game we enjoyed a nice linner together (lunch/dinner).

Sunday evening Kellie & Chris came over and we had a fire in the backyard and toasted marshmallows. Kellie figured since they have been dropping Pogo off and leaving so much lately they should come over and actually visit a little.

All in all, it was a fun weekend!

We enjoyed a nice Friday night under the lights at TU watching the team win 3-0. Yay!

This morning it rained again and I started off my day by meeting Katie, her roommate Maddie and Maddie's dad for breakfast. It was a nice visit.

Kellie and Chris got box tickets to the OSU game tonight from his employer so they took a little roadtrip back to their old stomping grounds.

So, we are dogsitting AGAIN!

Aren't we cute!

The Sun Has Returned

It was a chilly 62 degrees this morning and the dew on the grass left a roadmap of the morning activity (oooh, that was good don't you think).

Pogo is visiting with me and Rocky today. They just can't seem to cure him of his IBS. He's going to the vet this afternoon. He never seems very sick while he is here -- always chasing golf carts, bugs, birds -- whatever moves. Kellie & Chris have two very large german shepards next door to them and they don't want to leave Pogo outside in their backyard all day. When those dogs jump on the fence the whole thing moves. It's not in the best shape so they would worry about Pogo becoming an afternoon snack.

The builder promises (again) that they will be here next week to get some of the callback repairs done. The cooler temperatures and rain reminded me of the breeze that blows in the front door and soon we will want to use our cracked fireplace again. I won't hold my breath.

Things are picking up for Dave at work. Yesterday they had a great sales day -- bigger than any previous month!

Kellie had one of her 5th grade boys tell her he didn't think women should have the right to vote if children don't have the same right. She sure set him straight!

Because the soccer team's Louisiana trip was cancelled they were able to schedule two games here in town. Tonight we will be heading over to TU to cheer on the team. Go Hurricane!

Gustav is Here!

The remnants of Gustav arrived in Oklahoma last night. It has been raining all day and eastern Oklahoma is expected to get 6-12 inches. I'm sure glad I got the grass cut and a swim in yesterday. Look how nice the grass looks!

Katie was supposed to leave for Monroe, Louisiana tomorrow for more soccer, but that trip has been cancelled because of all the rain. It will be nice for her to have a weekend in town.
I stopped at Kellie's for my usual Wednesday afternoon stop. Pogo was a good boy and so happy to see me. There is only one problem, Kellie needs some new flipflops. He had one of them in about a hundred pieces. That'll teach her to put her shoes away.
Ran some errands this afternoon and am looking forward to a rainy evening at home.

Labor Day Weekend

Well those great big mousetraps must have scared the little fellas right out of Katie & Maddie's room. They have caught nothing so far, which is great!!

Saturday afternoon Katie went with the team to Springfield, Missouri. For dinner they went to the famous Lathrop's restaurant -- home of the thrown roll. After over an hour wait Katie had a nice steak dinner and three rolls. Being a huge roll fan, she rated them as good, but not great. The next day they played Missouri State and lost 0-1. I wonder if the results could have been different if Katie was in the game??? I think so. Drew made the trip to Springfield to cheer on the team. Dave & I skipped the game.

Yesterday, Labor Day, Katie bought a bunch of the freshman girls home for a pool/birthday party. They all enjoyed a day off from soccer by getting out of their dorm rooms and being in a relaxing home environment. They have been at school for a month now and some are feeling a little homesick.

Here are the birthday girls, Natalia (L-from California) and Brooke (R-from Texas).

Dinner was leftovers from Kellie's wedding, pulled pork and bbq chicken sandwiches. It was still yummy! I packed up a bunch of sandwiches and sent them back with the girls.

Katie with Natalia and Carrie who are roommates.

Enjoying the pool. Carrie liked Rocky because she reminded her of her dog at home.

Kellie and Chris (& Pogo) came over too. Kellie made cupcakes, which also went back to school with the girls.

I loved having the girls over. There are so many new faces and names to get to know, so this really helps. There were 11 girls in all, 3 from California, 2 from Arkansas, 2 from Texas, and 1 each from Kansas, Missouri, Florida and, of course, Oklahoma. It was a fun day!

Roadtrip to Arkansas

Friday afternoon we took a little roadtrip to Fayetteville, Arkansas to cheer on Katie's soccer team. A group of parents and grandparents met with the girls before the game and enjoyed a "tailgate" party on the beautiful grounds of the University of Arkansas.

Can you find me in the crowd? It was an exciting game and UofA has quite a supportive crowd. You should have heard their hog call -- SUEY!!!

It was a hard fought battle but in the end the good guys came out on top. The girls won 1-0. Woo Hoo! Sorry Razorback fans. Our hurricane destroyed your hogs.

It was a beautiful night to watch a soccer game and we enjoyed our roadtrip.
