Biztown

On Tuesday I went on a field trip with Kellie's 5th graders to Biztown, which is run by Junior Achievement. It's a mini city with a Wal-Mart, Arby's, Reasors (grocery store), Bank of Oklahoma, City Hall, Tulsa World (newspaper), law office, engineering firm, medical center, cable company, etc. I helped the kids in Biz Express, which was in charge of delivering supplies to all of the businesses and handling the mail. One student was elected mayor of Biztown for the day and each business had a CEO, CFO and other job titles. The day started out with a speech from the mayor and various CEOs. The kids had to work to earn a paycheck (written by the CFO), which they had to deposit in the bank. They had a checkbook and also had to open a savings account. During the day there were two pay periods and two breaks where the kids could go and spend their money. It was a great learning experience for all of the kids

The television anchor women for the day.

Crazy DJ's! They actually broadcast over the Biztown PA system.

I'm so glad I have been able to attend so many field trips with my girls and, now, with Kellie's classes.
Monday I return to the working world. Back to a law firm M-F 8:30 to 5. It was so great not having to work for 12 years.
