Then Kellie & Chris stopped over with cookies of their own. Apparently McCain is winning according to the great bakery election.

Tonight we're off to Chris & Kellie's to celebrate Chris's 23rd birthday. Should be fun!

This has been a good week, nothing special, but good. I'm getting to the point in my catching up around here that I really need to start thinking about the garage -- going through all the junk to figure out what we want and what we don't. I wish I could blink and have it done.
With all of the financial problems in the world I'm thinking about going back to work more and more -- just as soon as I get that garage done. :-)
Chris sure has some terrific perks with his job. It seems that every week there are opportunities to win tickets for some event. This week it was the "2008 Tour of Gymnastics Superstars." I told Kellie if he won and didn't want to go I'd be happy to go with her. Well, he won and Chris did not want to go. Kellie called and asked if I would mind if she asked Katie to go with her instead of me. I held back my tears (sniff, sniff) and said of course I wouldn't mind. It always made my mom happy (and it still does) to see me do things with my sisters. I know what she means. I wasn't able to go along, but they had fun texting me and telling me what a great show I was missing. Katie said they were so close (2nd row) she could tackle Shawn Johnson (she controlled herself). She also appreciated it when the guys took off their shirts (hmmm, wonder why?). Kellie said the girls were bigger than they expected and the guys were smaller. They both could have done without the lip-synching Disney singers. They had a great time and I'm happy they got to be together.
Now, you would think a child of mine would certainly have a camera for such an exciting show, wouldn't you? NO! Neither of them had a camera except for their cell phones. Here are a couple video clips courtesy of Kellie's cell phone.
They said the girls were very professional and conservative but the guys were wild and crazy. They didn't hold back and did some amazing performances. At one time there were three guys on the pommel horse at the same time!
So while they spent the night with Shawn Johnson, Nastia Luikin, Alecia Sacramonie, Shannon Miller and the entire men's Olympic gymnastics team (including the Hamm twins), I was home waiting for text updates and proud that my girls were having such a good time together.
Enjoy your Sunday!
Chris came right from his work in downtown Tulsa so he arrived first. Kellie rode along with us and Katie met us there.
During the day Kellie told her students it was her sister's birthday and the entire class called and sang "Happy Birthday" to her. Katie said it was the highlight of her day (til dinner of course).
After dinner Katie went to her high school football homecoming game for a little while, then returned home to presents and a little birthday cake/Reeses bars. YUM!
It is also homecoming at TU this weekend so, as it turns out, she was lucky not to have to travel to Houston. She got to have fun at her first college homecoming bonfire Thursday night, got to celebrate her birthday with her family, and tonight will be going to the TU football game. Apparently there's a rule about not traveling with the team if you are redshirting, so she'll be skipping the away games for the next few weeks. The fall season is over the end of October, so she really won't miss too much. She will be able to play in the spring season, so we're looking forward to that. In the meantime -- practice, practice, practice.
Look at that crazy ride in the distance in this picture. I'm sure the view from the top was great, but the spinning and upsidedown would be too much for me.
We decided to have a jumbo turkey leg for lunch. We each got one but we could have easily split one. It sure was yummy though! We enjoyed a little jazz music while we chowed down.
Drew wants one of these for Christmas. He was adorable, but he really needed more room. He was going crazy in that cage.
We had a terrific time at the fair! It was nice to go early and avoid the crowds.

Today is Katie's birthday. Happy 19th Katie!!! She was supposed to be spending it in Houston with the soccer team, but she ended up staying at school. So now she's coming home later this afternoon and we're going to dinner at her favorite restaurant, PF Changs. I'll fill you in on that tomorrow.
